Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —

I took the one less travelled by,

And that has made all the difference.

— Robert Frost

Published in 1916, a poem-so well known that it may have dictated the lives and choices of many young men and women. Filled with passion, as we sometimes are, we come to an intersection and as we stand there in bewilderment of making a choice, we simply think of two. Two choices, a right or wrong, the left or the right, up or down, success or failure and that make the choice naive. As naive as we ourselves our.

Robert Frost may have chosen out of just two roads for the sake of a beautiful prose but we have more choices than him in our life, most of the time.

Some roads diverged in a wood, and I —

I took the one that made all the sense.

For roads are not just two, because there is a third one to those too. A third road that goes from the middle. A road that brings balance to things. An intermediate in things.

As the choices of going left or right sway us in every which way, we get confused. In thinking which extreme way is right or wrong, we forget to think that maybe both are wrong or right at the same time. And now only a midway through them, a choice that reflects the qualities of all extremities may be the best way.

Often when society bundles itself in groups based on extreme choices, we divide and fight each other in favour of our own choice. What the groups quickly forget is that the way to the left takes you just to the left and vice versa. Whereas a way through the middle brings you only the best of both worlds.

Intermediacy or averaging down of things is the best thing one can do and one must do. For even Robert Frost knew, that that has made all the difference.
