Did you see how Indian media covered the incident?

Far and wide, media everywhere is to be blamed for their incompetence to be accurate or in any way unbiased. The ‘news’ is meant to be boring but if you run a media company on the premise that it is entertainment, then this is exactly what you get.
What the NY Times did is nothing compared to what is happening in the Indian landscape itself. Media has gone rogue; sold and shelved.
